Starting out suggestions ... Alternatives to .NET ???

    Hi,  very new to Reporting Services ....

    I have SQL 2K (and have downloaded RS addin) and want to create a prototype Reporting environment as cheaply as possible before getting a budget $$.

    Any way to design & deploy reports without having to buy .Net studio ??  We have historically used Excel (Pivots etc via Cubes) / MS Access to PDF.

    What I want to do is basically set up a handful of Web Based interactive Drill through reports from my Cubes and get the relevant stakeholders to see the power of it.

    Some direction / Suggestions from the experienced guys would be appreciated ??

    Visual Basic .NET is only $99 dollars (retail) and will let you develop reports for Reporting Services. I think that is as cheap as it gets for building fairly complex reports from cubes for a slick prototype. There is other software like Cizer Report Builder (www.cizer.com) that you could download on an evaluation license for ninety days, but I don't think it does cubes.
