Standard vs Enterprise Edition

  • Hi,

Anybody outhere can clear this out for me ?

Is there any differences or impact on SSIS packages developed on SQL Server 2005 Enterprise and Standard Editions.

My colleagues and me are in a debate over this.Futhermore there is a huge difference in the "$" figure on licensing.Seriously, do you see lesser options in SSIS Std Edition or is it more of a performance consideration.

  • Hi Jassmeet,

As with a lot of SQL Server-related questions, the answer is (once again) "it depends". ๐Ÿ™‚

Here's a list of things you get with Enterprise that you do not get with Standard. Performance gains are realized by better parallel-processing support if the types of work you're doing with SSIS lends itself to parallelism.

You get additional tasks in Enterprise: Data Mining, Fuzzy Lookup and Grouping, Term Extraction and Lookup, and SSAS connection adapters. There's another detailed list here.

    Hope this helps,

    Andy
