Does anyone know if MS requires an extra, upgraded, or special license for SSRS to be able to display reports on an external public facing website? Other than the professional Sql Server 2008 license we already have. I looked at the MS docs on licenses for Sql Server and didn't see anything about it, so I want to be sure.
Thank you,
Natalie 🙂

I believe you can have another server call upon the report server for reports and then display those reports. For example a website can call upon report server programatically and then display the report on the website. In this case I don't believe you need an additional license.
However, if you want to run the report server software on another box and display the reports there, then you will need another license.

I don't want to run report server on another box. I would rather use the report viewer control in asp.net and hook up to a server side report. Would I need an additional or special license to do this?
