Someone else did my SQL Server 2008 install and it appears that they tried to configure SSRS but the database they pointed everything to is missing. Can I recreate the database using the same name or can I create a new one??? If so, how? I get a WMI provider error everytime I try to use the Reporting Services Configuration Manager. Exact error message is 'An unknown error has occurred in the WMI Provider. Error Code 800705AF'. I have no problem creating a new database for SSRS as I'm sure the old one had nothing in it, I just can't get past this screen. As soon as I click on 'OK', Reporting Services Configuration Manager closes. Thank you in advance for your help.

Do you have the option of reinstalling the SSRS from the disk?

I suppose I could do that...would it disturb any of the other live data that is on there??? My regular SQL dbs are constantly in use.

Clarify the database that everything was pointed to is missing? Which DB - ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB? Both? Or something else?
If you reinstall SQL itself, you'll lose everything. But you should easily be able to reinstall just the Reportin Services portion itself.
Uninstalling the existing installation of SSRS WILL BLOW away those 2 tables, but will not affect any others.

run SQL Server Reporting services configuration manager and use this to create new databases

Unfortunately No, that's why I reccomended the reinstall (starts over brand-new then) - have you googled the error or check BOL???

I believe the DB's were named SCAN. If I look in 'Services', after 'SQL Server Reporting Services' the word (SCAN) appears but there is no DB in SQL Server Management Studio named this so I think they are gone. I'm kind of new at this so please forgive me if type something stupid. I really do appreciate everyone's help.

Yes, the service is running.
Stop the service and then open SSRS configuration manager

That didn't work. When I open it, I get the option to enter the server name (which is correct) and click 'Find'. When I click on 'Find' is when the same WMI Provider error occurs the occurred before I stopped the service.
