SSRS 2008 Bar Chart

  • Hi Everyone,

I have created a report similar to the one in the tutorial below:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc281302.aspx

Is there any way I can represent the same chart in a different way. I want the Names as series with different color codes. And two values "Sales YTD" and "Sales Last Year" on the Y-axis. The X-axis should still show the same details.

Please advise. Let me know if my question is not clear.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Praveena.

  • On this i think you would simply just need to drag your names field into the area of the chart where it says "Drop Series Field Here" and your other value into the cagegory area of the chart. Basically just flip flop the two fields and keep your data the same.

  • avitale,

With the report as in http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc281302.aspx, nothing appears in the series fields and 'Names' appear in the category area.

If I drag 'Names' to 'series fields area', it actually generates the combinations as series field like "Sales YTD for NameA", "Sales YTD for NameB", "Sales Last Year for NameA" and "Sales Last Year for NameB" etc. I could not find a way to include the values "Sales YTD" and "Sales Last Year" on the category list. If I drag the columns SalesYTD and SalesLastYear on the category area, it actually shows all the values in the column SalesYTD on the axis rather than just the column names.

Please let me know if my question is confusing.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Praveena.
