  Does anyone have a solution for this?

  I have tried the dns flush, release, renew, etc.

  Re-booted my machine and it's still not letting me connect to the local server.

  Please help!

  Are the following services running on the SQL Server?

  SQL Server

  SQL Browser

  When connecting, are you specifying localhost, machine name, IP address or a ' . '

  Can you ping the 'local server' that you trying to access?

  Can you 'telnet servername 1433' - does it connect?
