Hi all, I've just had to roll back my SSMS 22 version from 22.3.0, because this version seems to crash as soon as I open it (just after selecting an instance to connect to).
Anyone else having any issues with 22.3.0?

I just update from 22.0.0 to 22.3.0 and no issues.

No problems with 22.3.0. No extensions. Responds quicker overall

I have the exact issue after upgrading to 22.3.0. It keeps freezing and crashing when I attempt to establish a new connection.
I have all RedGate extensions (SQLToolBelt Essentials with SQLPrompt, etc.) I suspect one of the extensions is causing it.
I had to roll back to the previous 22.2.1 for now.

I get "The SqlSearchSsmsPackage package did not load correctly" error after upgrading to SSMS 22.3. And when I attempt to add a connection to Object Explorer it shuts down and restarts. And yes, I have SQLPrompt 11 installed.

Yep, same for 22.3.0. I get "The SqlSearchSsmsPackage package did not load correctly" too. I then uninstalled it, which of course removed the error, but I also have SQL Prompt and SQL Source Control... something there causes crashes after a few moments of being open.
Had to revert back to SSMS 22.2 or whatever last version was.

No problem over here.

I received the following information about this issue from the author of SSMS Tools (Mladen):
It is an issue with extensions because they internally upgraded the assemblies.
They moved to newer sqlclient version.
So the assemblies referenced in the addin dlls are not found any more.

This should fix an issue with Prompt: https://download.red-gate.com/checkforupdates/SQLPrompt/SQLPrompt_11.3.6.21421.exe

Please note that SQLPrompt_11.3.6.21421.exe must be installed in a particular order / fashion - there are details in the release notes. You're not supposed to install this version on the older 22.2.o.
After multiple reverts, re-dos and uninstall / re-installs, this is where I'm at.
Uninstalled SQL Prompt, SQL Search, SQL Source Control.
Uninstalled SQL 22.2.0 fully, rebooted.
Installed SQL 22.3.0. Launched, it worked fine.
Installed SQL Prompt 11.3.6.21421, launched, working fine.
Installed SQL Search 3.9.4.6402, launched, BOMB. Uninstalled SQL Search, launched, all back to being OK. So SQL Search is a no-go for now.
Installed SQL Source Control 8.1.6.23205, launched, working fine.
But, then SQL Prompt was missing from the toolbar. I went into Extensions and unchecked the oddly double entries of SQL Prompt, and it restarted. After SSMS restart, the menu is there again and things are working (so far).
The key overall was to uninstall SSMS completely; doing downgrades and upgrades never fixed the underlying issue. Then, I was able to isolate SQL Search as my particular issue.
This is getting... tiring, but I feel I'm to blame. I keep trying to move at SSMS speed, and RedGate is close behind, but not on day one. Probably need to give them a month before jumping to the next release.

This is a mess. Someone at MS changed how they work with some add-ins/extensions and that broke SSMS with any sort of extension. Not just Prompt.
A bunch of devs at lots of companies have been working around this.
