SSL Connection Question

  • Hi,

I have a client that requires us to use SSL for connecting to SQL Server. I am running SQL Server 2008 R2 on Windows 2008 R2. This is a shared environment and I cant force all clients to use SSL. Can SSL be configured at the client side so only that connection is using SSL? I read an article that it was an option in 2005 but I can't find if that is an option in 2008 R2.

    Thank you!

  • Ah poo, I must have missed this sentence:

"When the ForceEncryption option for the Database Engine is set to No, encryption can be requested by the client application but is not required.":-)
