SSDT for Visual Studio 2010 vs. SSDT for Visual Studio 2012

  • I recently installed SQL Server 2012 on a laptop from scratch.

I notice that when searching for "SQL Server Data Tools" on the system to begin working on an SSIS project, I have both SSDT for VS 2010 and SSDT for VS 2012 on the laptop.

I only knowingly installed the version for 2012, so why is the 2010 SSDT on there? I don't really see any specific entry for SSDT 2010 to where I can remove it via the "Add/Remove Programs" option either.

    Thanks for any help/recommendations.

Have you got a local instance of SQL Server 2012 running on the laptop? I think (though I am not certain) that SSDT 2010 gets installed, possibly as an optional extra, with that.
