SSAS partitions delete - .prt files not deleting

  I have an unusual problem with an existing cube.

  When I delete a partition using SSMS or xmla the partition deletes from the cube successfully in SSMS.

  However, the physical files are not deleting from the server.

  Does anyone know why this is happening and how to correct it?
