  • I would attend a local SQL Saturday and look for BI track. Then, get some names and contact info from attendees and speakers to start networking with BI related SQL folks.

The first book I would read if I were you (and I was where you are now 4-5 years ago) would be the Kimball Dimensional Tookit. The concepts of dimensional modeling is important to understand before reporting with SSAS.

At the same time, I would start with SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services by Scott Cameron Hitachi consulting. I have gone thru this book twice, and currently going through it again for the 3rd time.

    Thanks,

    Thomas

If you have not done it already, download AdventureWorks Analytical database and SQL counter part of it.

It is useful for pacticing. Many of the books have examples based on this AdventureWorks.

I don't have the link. It should not be diffcult to find it.

    Wish you all the best.
