SS2005 - Missing dimension members when attribute is browsed in cube

  •  I am working with a datamart that contains Healthcare data.  I have a Doctor dimension.  After processing the cube, I browse it, expand the members of the DoctorName attribute of the Doctor dimension, then drag the attribute into the cube as rows.

As a comparison there are 103 doctors (members) whose last name start with 'A', but only one row in the cube.  I am not using any filters.  Why don't all of the members of the attribute show up in the cube?

    Thanks,

    Dave

  • Is there fact/measure data for all of the 103 doctors?  If not, then your front end tool (e.g. SQL Management Studio cube browser, which is Pivot Tables 11.0) may be suppressing zero values.  If you're using Management Studio then right click in the (unused) top-leftmost cell of the grid and select the option 'Show Empty Cells'.

If you're sure that you have data (fact records) for more 'A' doctors then you could be filtering the data out through the use of filters.  Even though you may not be actively filtering in the user interface, if you've set default members for any of the Attribute Dimensions, then these will be determining the section fo teh cube that your viewing.
