I have a server that is working properly, and a client PC that, when connected on wired LAN, can connect to any DB on the server.
As i move the client PC on a wireless link, i can see the server (i can look for it using the SQL server manager express), but, as i try to connect, i get error 26.
The WLAN is perfectly working, the signal is excellent, the speed satisfactory.
I do not believe it is a connection speed problem, probably, i have some filter somwhere, but can not understand where.
The WLAN is driven by a D-Link DWL-3200AP.
Tank you for any hint.

I have found it.
The server name is not transalted to it's IP address.
If i replace in the connection string the server name with the IP (for instance, instead of MYSEVER\SQLEXPRESSm 10.10.1.100\SQLEXPRESS), i can connect.
So far, i do not know if this is the correct forum thread.

It looks like you have a DNS issue, name resolution.
Can you ping the server from the station using DNS name?

Yes Paul, i believe it is a DNS issue.
I can ping my DNS server, but the LAN i used for my tests is not the target one.
I had to test the AP device at home, because it was mis-configured, and could not keep a steady connection. My LAN has no DMS provider, nor DHCP service: it has a router given me by my internet provider, it is a black box to me, and that is all. The DMS server i am using from home is outside my private LAN, it is a public server with a completely different subnet.
Unfortunately, the AP is not at my home any more, so i can perform no test any more: it was urgent to take it bak to my customer.
There, the connections are made via IP addresses, not via host names, there is no DMS because he has two LANs connected, and they never use explicit names.
So, i thank you very much, but i can't go any deeper to this problem, the LAN I set up yesterday does not exist any more today. I would like, because i like to understand, but i can not right now.
