SQL7 install problems on new Win2k box

  • I am installing a copy of SQL 7 on one of our 2000 boxes and it is failing when the service is restarting. I am using a local admin account for both SQL/Agent services.

    Stopping Service ...

    Starting Service ...

An error occurred while attempting to start the service (1460)

    SQL Server configuration failed.

    Any ideas?

    TIA,

    Matt.

  • Did you assign this account through EM or the Services applet? You need to be sure this accoutn as the "Log on as a service" right.

  • Steve - I'm new to 2000... I do not see the option for "Log on as a service"... I am looking at the logon properties for the account.

    Thanks again -

  • Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Local Security Policy / Local Policies / User Rights Assignment / Log on as a service

Dbl click and add the account.

  • found the problem... I forgot to mention I was running the install through Terminal Server.

I ran it on the box and all is well.

    Thanks for the help.

  • You are welcome. Glad it worked.
