I am trying to work with replication. While I am setting up replication on the
sql server and I'm having a problem. They named the server as local which
gives me an error when I try to setup replication.
The error is :
"SQL Server does not support nicknames, such as "." or "(local)", as a
server names. Delete the SQL Server registration for this server and
register it using the actual server name."
I tried a lot to slove it.. but i was not able to do it.
When we use Select @@ServerName it Gives me actula Machine Name ie. DBServer. But in Enterprise Manager its showing [Local].
Thanks in advance

In Enterprise Manager try right clicking and Deleting the SQL Server Registration, then re-register the server this time using the servername rather than (local) and then try setting up replication again.

You are not dropping the server, rather re-registering it with the correct name rather than (local)
