sql server login with $ sign

  • hi..

this might be dumb question but wanted to clear out the doubt.

One of our sql server has windows nt login with machinename and $ sign at the end.e.g.domain_name\machine_name$.Does it give any special privileges to that Id? I do not have sysadmin access to the sql server.

    Any help?

    -Thanks.

    jp.

  • I understand that Machinename$ is used in the Event Log (Security Log for example) to represent a user if the service is started on the LocalSystem account and the service startup identity is used in a particular event. Check if anywhere in the log for this event it says "NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM"
