SQL Server install & Database Tuning Advisor Tool

  • It's been so long since I did an install of 2k5...

Does anyone remember or know if the installation of the Database Tuning Advisor is automatic with the install of the Database Engine or if it's a client tool that can be "not installed"?

I ask because we're getting ready to rebuild a server and I know for a fact that the DTA was either not installed by someone or there was a bug with our install that prevented it from getting fully installed to begin with.

    Thanks in advance!

  • What edition are you working with? It is not installed with Express edition.

  • Enterprise 32 bit (for the servers) and Developer 32 bit (for our local PCs).
