SQL Server and RRAS

  • We recently lost all incoming network connectivity with a server running SQL Server.

It turned out ipnat.sys was running and running 'net stop ipnat' solved the problem. But this problem is caused by running RRAS which was never part of our deliberate configuration.

Running rrasmgmt.msc shows our local instance of SQL Server in the RRAS console. So it seems that SQL Server is using RRAS for some reason.

How do I track this down and how do I remove any RRAS configuration associated with SQL Server? The server is directly attached to the internet with its own IP address.

    Thanks,
