SQL SERVER AGENT Login and MSSQL login

  • We are trying to change the login and password of the server.

    In one of the server login for sqlserver agent and mssqlserver is different.we changed the login to "abcdef" and password for mssqlserver and restarted the service.but after connecting to the server i am unable to expand the node of the server under enterprise manager...it is throwing the error login failed for the user "abcdef"

    what can be the reason ...can anyone help me

    Ok.., first of, you mention enterprise manager, are you using sql 2000 or sql 2005?.

    what tool did you use to change the account and which account was it previously using. I would assume that you were using a windows account for the sqlserver/sqlagent account.
