SQL Server 2008 - SSRS

  • Is SSRS included with SQL Server 2008?

I see "Reporting Services Configuration Manager" off of the Programs menu but I don't see a path to SSRS itself.

Is SSRS a separate download from SQL Server 2008 or am I just looking in the wrong place?

  • SQL Server installation includes

    SSDE (Database engine)

    SSIS

    SSRS

    SSAS

so yes, it's part of the install

If you see "Reporting Service Configuration Manager" in Start Menu, it should mean that SSRS is installed

check your "Configuration manager" to see if there's a Reporting Service there

  • It is included in every edition except Express (unless you are using the Advanced release).

Compare the Editions and features included - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc645993.aspx

SSRS 2008 does not have a dependency on IIS anymore either. You should be able to access the Report Manager by going to http://localhost/reports. If that does not work then go into the configuration manager and verify all of the settings.

You should have seen the SSRS setup during the installation process - http://denglishbi.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!CD3E77E793DF6178!274.entry
