SQL Server 2008 for Small Business - Can we install it?

  • Hi,

We are looking at purchasing "SQL Server 2008 Standard for Small Business", but need help to confirm if our systems will meet the restrictions of the “Small Business” version. http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2008/en/us/small-business.aspx

Can we install "SQL Server 2008 Standard for Small Business" into our environment which consists of one domain with two sites, each with a Windows Server 2008 Standard R2 server running Active Directory? One server is running Exchange Server 2008. There is DFS Replication between the sites. Details below....

Do our systems meet the ‘Small Business’ restrictions?

Is there a tool to confirm if "SQL Server 2008 Standard for Small Business" will be compatible with our systems?

Is there a demo version of "SQL Server 2008 Standard for Small Business" available for download? (Could only find the full Standard version)

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Yes you qualify but based on the CAL restrictions you can install many SQL Server Express instances which comes without user restrictions to use with the standard edition you will be buying. The Express comes with other restrictions but using it with the standard may cover most of a small business needs.
