SQL Server 2008 Exam 70-448 Qualifications

  • Hi everyone,

I'm interested in taking the upcoming SQL 2008 BI exam 70-448. If I don't have the experience listed in "Audience profile" on that Microsoft page, am I qualified to take the exam and receive the certification if I pass? Since this is just a Technology Specialist certification and not some type of upper level architect/developer certification, will I still need to have proof of relevant experience in SQL Server?

I am a recent college graduate in Operations Research and want to learn and show that I know how to use SQL server for BI solutions.

    Thank you.

  • You don't need any proof of experience to write or to get the cert.

How are you studying for the exam if you don't have all the relevant experience?

Thanks! I knew that will be the case, but wasn't sure.

At this point I'm studying from SQL 2005 books, Microsoft eLearning, and AppDev video DVDs. I also installed SQL 2005 and 2008 on my computer to practice from samples. Of course this won't replace real-world experience, but it will definitely give me good foundation and knowledge so I'll be better prepared to do it in practice. I'm not looking to become a SQL whiz, just someone who can use reporting and analysis tools for BI.

i got my NT4 MCSE without ever using NT server or any kind of experience other than windows 95 and 98

just a lot of drill with practice tests and months of studying. took me around 6 months at 15-20 hours studying per week.

don't know if MS still does this, but they had some preferred partners for each test and on the newsgroups people said which book to buy or practice test for which test. One of the Exchange 5.5 study books had a question pool of 300 or so questions and MS used that question pool for the real test with a few minor modifications.

rumor was that transcender used to send people in to take the test and copy or memorize the questions because their tests were very close to the real thing. even Cisco did the same thing. there was a CCNA study book i used one month when i was bored at my last job to get my CCNA without ever touching a router
