SQL Server 2000 Updates

  • Hi,

Are there any updates to SQL Server 2K beyond sp3a? My boss has just told me to apply all patches to our sql servers, to which I replied that they are all already at sp3a. He insisted that there were further updates, to which I replied I'd no idea what he was talking about. He then went off in a huff talking about doing it himself.

Anyway, I asked him a few minutes ago if he'd found where these updates came from, and he told me that they were installed via EPO server. Does this make any sense to anyone, or has he got confused with OS updates?

  • Yes there are, only a few are public and SP4 is in beta right now. But go here

and there is a list that is is the best you can find without digging thru MS yourself.

  • Thanks,

Guess I was wrong then. How does one go about downloading these hotfixes? The MS web pages seemed to indicate you had to ask MS directly for them, but he seemed to indicate you could get them applied automatically. Automatic seems a bit risky to me, given some of them appear to have introduced new problems as well as fixing existing ones.

  • Sorry no they are not automatic. From that site any marked PSS will require speaking with MS and only if you are experiencing the issue. The ones not marked PSS have a link to the KB article which has a link to the download which you install.

  • All of my servers are up to hot fix 818 ... here's the link ...
