At my company, we are planning to install sql server 2000 enterprise edition onto Windows 2003 Enterprise edition server. It is not a datacenter or advanced server. I like to know can I take advantage of the AWE memory in this situation or it is only for 2003 datacenter or 2003 advanced server?

it is possible for windows 2003 enterprise
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition supports 32 GB of physical RAM. Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition supports 64 GB of physical RAM by using the Physical Address Extensions (PAE) feature. You can use the 3 GB switch that is in the Boot.ini file with Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, or with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition.

soif I put that 3 GB switch on that boot.ini file, then sql server can get up to 32 GB of physical Ram (assuming that is what that box has)? Another question I forgot to post on the original question, is it also necessary to set the advanced option of AWE enabled on the advanced option of the SQL Server configuation for the Windows 2003 Enterprise edition?
