  • It looks like you're running MSDE (the free SQL 2000 database engine). MSDE has a built-in throttle that limits it to a certain number of concurrent queries and you're exceeding it.

To check if it is MSDE, please run the following and post the results

    SELECT @@Version

Otherwise, you can post the top 5 or so lines of the error log.

The only 'fix' for this is to buy a licence and install one of the other versions of SQL 2000 or 2005 (Standard edition possibly)

  • The ran the statement in SQL Query Analyzer and the result is: Microsoft SQL Server ...

  • Please post the full result. Change QA to run to text, not to grid.

  • That is MSDE, as shown by the last line 'Desktop Engine on Windows NT 5.1'

MSDE will slow down after 8 concurrent queries. It's an intentional throttling and there is no way around it.

  • What will help me fix the problem?

  • You'll have to buy one of the editions of SQL server. I don't know if you can still buy SQL 2000 though. Without knowing what you're doing, I can't say what edition, but standard edition is probably a good place to start.

Or you can get SQL 2005 express (free), it's limited to 2 GB databases and might be throttled as well (don't know offhand)
