All,
Have a strange situation going on with 2000 BOL. I am running Windows XP SP3 on my laptop, and I have been using SQL 2000 and 2005 on this laptop for some time, with no issues.
Last week I went to use SQL 2000 BOL, and each time I selected the Index tab I got this error, "An unhandled win32 exception occurred in hh.exe [4908]" (the number in the brackets varies). The Contents tab works fine, and any searches on the Search tab returns "no topics found". I did an install of BOL in another directory; the install went fine, but I am getting the same errors. The SQL 2005 BOL is working fine.
I noticed this morning that the SQLdm Help is not working right either. I am not getting the win32 exception errors, but the Index tab is blank, and any searches on the Search tab returns "no topics found".
I have done many searches for a fix to this, and I have found many topics that appear to be related, however, I have found nothing current, nothing with BOL, and no fixes that solve my issue. I did uninstall XP SP3, but that accomplished nothing.
I also sent an email to Microsoft last week, but so far nothing from them.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
Thank you,
Joe

My suggestion is probably more work than it's worth, but here you go:
Set up a virtual machine with XP SP 2, and install BOL on there.
The other option I can think of is ignore BOL and just use MSDN, but that's also a bit of a pain.
Sorry I can't come up with anything more useful than that.
(Thus far, I don't like SP 3 for XP. Got rid of the Address Bar from the Taskbar, and I used that thing constantly.)
