I've got 32 bit Server 2003 Ent Ed with 8 GB of memory, running SQL 2000 SP4 with the Hotfix applied, which installs sqlservr.exe version 2000.80.2040.0. I've run the SQL scripts setting 'awe enabled' to 1, and have set 'max server memory' to 4096. I have also edited the local Security Policy on that server to grant Lock pages in memory to the user which starts the SQL service.
Problem is I still get the SQL ErrorLog entry stating "Cannot use Address Windowing Extensions because lock memory privilege was not granted."
The server is an HP DL585, with Dual Opteron CPUs. I've read that even though the CPUs are 64 bit, since I'm running a 32 bit OS I need to treat them like 32 bit CPUs, hence the /3GB and /PAE switches.
I've tried using the Local System and local Administrator accounts to start the service to no avail. Can anyone suggest something else to try? TIA

I just found on a MS site that stated flat out SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition can only support 2 GB of Memory, regardless of which OS it sits on. So the whole problem is just the version of SQL I have. Duh
