SQL is locked

  we are having problems to configure linked server by installing the oracle provider , when we tried to configure linked server by using oracle provider sql is locked and unable to access the SSMS .The sql is SQL 2008 R2 on win2008 .

  can any one suggest how to resolve this with out restarting the sql ?

  Do you mean to say that SSMS is locked or stuck? You might try closing SSMS, which of course won't stop SQL Server services.
