Hi,
Whenever I try to install SQL 2005 on my system, I get an error
"Failure setting security rights on DTS user account computer name". I have windows XP sp2 running on ma machine
I have tried installing it around 10 times, I m completely frustrated now. Please help
Also, can standard / enterprise edition of sql run on windows XP or it runs only on windows server 2003/2008.

I'm not sure what is causing your error but here is a link that will show what SQL Server 2005 editions are supported on what OS's, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143506(SQL.90).aspx

If your SQL Server installation is with service pack 3 (meaning it will install at service pack 3 level of SQL server) then I'm pretty sure Windows XP must be at service pack 3 as well.

to answer some of your question. only standard can you install and only if it is xp professional. although you could install developer edition for your machine as long as isnt used for production purposes.
