The sql window gets closed after trying to change the color of the text editor. Once the the option is opened no error occur but once we click anywhere else on the screen the sql window gets closed. Version 2014.
Steps followed: Tools>options>fonts and colors>'try to change color or click anywhere in window'> window hang> window close>sometimes sql automatic restart.

I haven't experience this, but I'd make sure that I'm running the latest version of SQL Server Management Studio.

with the caveat that if using the latest version of SSMS you loose the Debug capability

I have rectified the error. It was being caused due to the one of the options in drop down window had a different value to it than default value being automatically assigned to it. Once the value in the dropdown was made applicable only to text editor in the options window, it got rectified.
