Isn't that rather a personal question? How can someone know if BI is useful for you?
If you mean: can I build a career out of SQL ServerBI, than yes, you can. But it probably depends on your jobmarket.
Need an answer? No, you need a question

From a general perspective, BI is consistently ranking as the #1 priority of CIOs in the annual Gartner CIO survey for the last 4 (maybe 5) years. And it is a perfect area to be in if you want to interact more with the business users and be able to bring them something of direct value which they can see and appreciate and use to make better decisions which will benefit the business. Of course all the back-end systems and databases are vital to any BI effort, but it is becoming harder and harder for business users to get real, useful, actionable value from corporate data as the amount of it grows year by year, across various siloed applications.
So from a career perspective, if you have an interest in BI, I would strongly recommend pursuing that and bringing your technical skills to bear on the BI needs of your organization - or future organizations you make work for.
Good luck!
