SQL Authentication - Windows Login

  • Hi.

I´m running 5 SQL 2000 servers all in Mixed mode authentication, mostly due to historical reasons (many applications are hard programmed using SQL logins.)

I´m starting to make these accounts abselute so I can set all 5 servers to Windows Authentication - Untill then I have to live with both types of log ins.

    And know to my question

How do I log in to Querry Analyzer using a different Windows account, than the one I´m logged on to the machine? I need to check security settings/Access on different NT accounts...

Right-click on your Query Analyzer icon and choose Run As.  You can then enter the security details for the account you want to connect as.

  • Hi John.

Many txs for the answer 🙂

It worked like a charm - but I had hoped that I could enter the credentials as a SQL login..

But I´ll stick to the "Run As"

Do you mean enter the credentials in the same way as a SQL login?  I don't think that's possible.
