SQL agent services does not start.

I have tried to start agent service different ways but it doest not running.
In localsystem account and windows user account MSSQLSERVER services working fine. But agent services not running for both account.
In enterprise manager -> management -> agent properites also checking both account and connection tap assign sa account, finally it was not start that same error dispaly.
Error msg like
An Error - 1053 (services did not respond to start or control request timely fashion
please suggestion me, what could be issues?

Did you try to start from SQL Server Configuration Manager?

check your event logs for a more detailed reason

I am using SQL server 2000 version and sp3.

I could not found any error in event logs regds sql agent services.

Hi,

What Steve may try to say is, not in the OS log. In the error log of the server agent, its also can seen thro the sql server agent properties general tab.

And what option your selected in the advance tab in the same properties for the restart services.
