SQL 6.5 DB to 7.0

    Hi, am getting errors when trying to LOAD a 6.5 DB into 7.0. The backup dump has been copied to the 7.0 server. When running the query analyser, it comes up with one of the following error;

    -User does not have exclusive use of the DB,

    -If set as DBO User only, error is c:\file*** is not a valid Microsoft Tape format backup set?

    -If I connect directly to the 6.5 mapped, backup directory, error is Device error or device off-line?

    I need to move all our old 6.5 DB's to 7.0 and then all over to 2000+.

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    The backup format between 6.x and 7 was changed. You actually will need to use the upgrade wizard to do what you want. The utility is usually under "Microsoft SQL Server - Switch" in the Programs menu.

    Hi,

    Thanks for assistance, will use solution proposed, I just need to find time when both DB's can be restarted!
