SQL 2008 - SSAS Connection issues on local installation

  • Hi guys,

This has probably been asked several times in the past, or currently - but today I am getting the following messgae and am struggling to understand why.

The project could not be deployed to the 'localhost' server because of the following connectivity problems : A connection cannot be made. Ensure that the server is running. To verify or update the name of the target server, right-click on the project in Solution Explorer, select Project Properties, click on the Deployment tab, and then enter the name of the server.

I have created a simple project so that I can understand the workings of BIDS and then create larger more complex cubes ......

I think I have checked the simple checklist .... services etc. - but am left scratching my head.

    any help is appreciated.

    Many Thanks

  • just to add.

This probelm occurs on a network PC - ( Windows 7, SQL 2008 R2 Express ) so I installed similar on my home laptop - standalone no GPO's to affect it - and same error message.

    Thanks
