I'm looking at some instances where folk have clicked 'next, next, next' to install SQL.
Can anyone clarify what is in "SQL 2008 setup support files" and why it's on SQL 2012, 2014 & 2016 ?
Thank you

Because there are parts and pieces from all of those versions packaged with SQL 2016. Regardless if the install clicked "next, next, next", these folders and files would still be created as part of an install.
Simply, that's how MS did it
