Hi All,
I'm new to SQL and currently running the Upgrade Advisor prior to installation of SQL 2008 R2. The Upgrade Advisor tells me "The SELECT permission was denied on the object 'sysjobsteps', database 'msdb', schema 'dbo'."
Now i have done plenty of searching and found that the opject sysjobsteps should be under Databases > System Databases > msdb > Tables > System Tables.
I don't see it.
I also tried to follow these instructions below which is regarding a Symantec issue (not my issue) just to see if i find the sysjobsteps object and couldn't find it to add it to a user.
3 Browse to Databases > System Databases > msdb > Security > Users.
4 Right-click Users and then click New User.
5 In the User name box, enter a new user name.
6 In the Login name box, enter the domain and the user name of the Vault
Service account, in the form domain\user_name.
7 Click OK.
To grant the permissions to the Vault Service account
1 Right-click the new user that you just created, and then click Properties.
2 Select the Securables page.
3 Add the following msdb tables to the list of securables, and then grant Select
permission for them to the Vault Service account:
■ sysjobs
■ sysjobschedules
■ sysjobservers
■ sysjobsteps
This SQL was setup by someone before i started working here and i've never used SQL before but it looks like something is not right. And like i said, i'm extremely new at this and seeking help/direction. Would i have problems running SQL 2008 R2 if i don't fix this issue? Anything i'm missing or should check.
Thanks in advance,
John

any ideas... i'm thinking of just uninstalling SQL 2005 and starting from scratch but i'm not sure if that's the best option for a SLQnewb
