SQL 2005 Memory Configuration Error - Urgent

  • I was adjusting my Minimum & Maximum memory settings on SQL 2005 and zeroed out the Min setting and mistakenly set the Max setting to the minumim of 16. Now I can't connect to fix the memory settings.

PLEASE HELP...I am locked out and don't have any clue how to adjust the settings.

    I am running Windows Server 2003 R2 Std x64 Edition with SQL 2005 SP3

  • Have you attempted to connect using the Dedicated Administrator Connection (DAC)?

    See Books Online:

  • Thanks I didn't know about that...however that didn't work either...got a timeout expired error.

I have also tried to stop the service and it won't even respond to that...I was thinking that maybe by restarting there would be enough remaining resources to connect but like I said it won't even stop from the services applet.

So maybe a reboot of the server and then try?

    Any other thoughts?

  • If it won't stop from services, reboot. You might set it not to auto start first, and then start it in minimal configuration from the command line.

  • You guys are the bomb...thanks so much for your help!!!
