Is it true that sql 2005 licenses can no longer be purchased? We need to move an application to a new sql server box so we'll have to buy a license. I wasn't ready to even evaluate sql 2008 yet, but they're telling me we can't buy a sql 2005 Enterprise license. Hard to believe. If true do I need a new version of sql management studio to administer 2008?
Is there a 2008 application that tests your databases for compatibility like we had for 2005?

just buy a sql 2008 license, you can use sql 2005 with it
with MS you always need a server license and CAL's so if you have 2005 CAL's, just buy a 2008 license and you can use any SQL server version as long as it is standard or enterprise depending on the version you bought
