SQL 2000

  • What is the easiest way to copy a database with all objects from one server to another and have servers be synchronized?  The size of the database is approx 1 GB.

  • Detach the DB from main server, copy .mdf .ldf files to other server, then attach the main db & then new db as well, this is one way. The best way would be take the backup of the DB and restore on the other server.

  • You can take backup of database through enterprise manager, copy .bak file to the other server and restore there from the same .bak file.

  • When you said "and have them be synchronized", were you talking about moving the data once, or were you talking about having both db's synchronized for reporting or high availability or whatnot?
