SOmething weird with SQL patching

  • Hi all ,

I just did SQL patching ( Service pack 3) to my testing server and it turns out that only SQL browser and writer have been updated but not for SQL instance.

So the SQL instance still Service pack 1 .

    This kind of weird .

Anyone has experience with it ? Much appreciate on your response.

    cheers

  • you are on which SQL Server version?

  • Hey thx for the reply ,

    SQL version is 2008 R2

  • Hi,

You've likely only applied the SP to your desktop. I could be wrong (the folks in Netops do these things where I work) but I believe you'll need to RDC into the server and apply the patches while logged into the server itself.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.
