Some backup jobs started to fail after SQL and windows server updates (including sollution)

  • Hi all,

Recently some (not all) scheduled backup jobs failed, reporting the following error:

"........Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly. End Error DTExec: The package execution returned DTSER_FAILURE (1). Started: 22:00:00 Finished: 03:07:59 Elapsed: 18349 seconds. The package execution failed. The step failed."

Just before these backup errors we have applied a lot of fixes to the production server. After doing some google searches we found some similar problems executing jobs.

Re-registering the following DLL fixed the problem:

    RegSvr32 SQLTaskConnections.dll

  • Do you have a question or are you just reporting something you ran across and fixed?

  • The latter one (that's why I posted it as including the solution). I most cases people tend not to write about things solved by themselves. I think that's a waste of knowledge. Searching the internet gives a lot's of results on common problems, but more specific are hard to find, so was this one.
