Snap-In failed to initialize.

  • On two separate computers with different versions of Windows I have now encountered this same problem. Whenever I open a Server Group in Enterprise Manager for the first time since starting the program, I get two message windows. The first says: "Repository Engine V3.0 or higher is required to run Meta Data Browser." and the second says: "Snap-in failed to initialize.

Name: Meta Data Services CLSID: {1DBA4DD4-4FD2-AB80-9D0D4BA74034}".

This message just appeared out of the blue one day. When I click Ok on both messages I can work without a problem. I have never used Meta Data Services and have never knowingly done anything to its settings.

Does anyone have any idea what's causing this?

    Thanks for your suggestions!

  • The client tools are not installed correctly. HAve you updated them with a hotfix or sp lately? Might try repairing them or reinstalling them.
