On two separate computers with different versions of Windows I have now encountered this same problem. Whenever I open a Server Group in Enterprise Manager for the first time since starting the program, I get two message windows. The first says: "Repository Engine V3.0 or higher is required to run Meta Data Browser." and the second says: "Snap-in failed to initialize.
Name: Meta Data Services CLSID: {1DBA4DD4-4FD2-AB80-9D0D4BA74034}".
This message just appeared out of the blue one day. When I click Ok on both messages I can work without a problem. I have never used Meta Data Services and have never knowingly done anything to its settings.
Does anyone have any idea what's causing this?

The client tools are not installed correctly. HAve you updated them with a hotfix or sp lately? Might try repairing them or reinstalling them.
