Slow DBCC shrinkfile

  Has anyone experienced a slow processing time using either the dbcc shrinkfile command or management studio tools? I have not successfully complete a shrink over the size of 1GB. Is this typical? What sort of metrics have others users found...eg, 1GB equals 10minutes??

  If defragmentation is heavy then DBCC shrinkfile will be very very slow. Check for defragementation in the database.
