Hi,
I have a variable in my sp which may get appended more than 8000 characters.
How to store more than 8000 characters in a varchar variable?
Though I declared with Max Keyword(like DECLARE @QRY AS VARCHAR(MAX)) it is not allowing me to store more than 8000?
Can you please help me out in this regard???

Maybe this would have avoided the truncatation of the post :
declare @var varchar(max)
select
@var = REPLICATE('1', 9000)
select LEN(@var)

The most likely cause of your issue is that you are concatenating values that are not VARCHAR(MAX) into a VARCHAR(MAX). You must explicitly convert values that are not stored as varchar(max) to make it work.
/*this won't work because @v2 is causing an implicit conversion*/ DECLARE @v1 VARCHAR(MAX) DECLARE @v2 VARCHAR(8000) SET @v2 = 'asdf' SET @v1 = REPLICATE(@v2,9000) PRINT len(@v1) /*this will work*/ DECLARE @v1 VARCHAR(MAX) DECLARE @v2 VARCHAR(8000) SET @v2 = 'asdf' SET @v1 = REPLICATE(CAST(@v2 AS VARCHAR(MAX)),9000) --explicitly convert before appending to your VARCHAR(MAX) Var PRINT len(@v1)
