I have a BAK file that is 1 GB but when restoring the transaction log is 200gb. Lots of unused space. The client must have set the file to some large size that is not needed for this application. Anyway, i have 2 test servers. One with enough space and one without enough space. I know i can restore to the one with space, shrink the log, do another backup and put it on the other test server. But is there another way. Is there a command to tell the restore operation to set the log size to a smaller size?
