How do I shrink the allocated space for a db. I have a database that has 26 gigs reserved but the physical space needed is 19 gigs. I want to bring that back down to 21 gigs.

If you're running SQL2000 just right click and select shrink database in EM.

thanks, I have already done that but what I was missing was that we have 25 gigs of data in that database.... not sure how we got that much in this database it is a copy of another database which is only 19 gig

I am moving a database from an old box to a new box, I used a "Copy SQL Server Task" to move the data only. We have done extensive work on the permissions and indexes on the new box and I don't want to loose those changes.
