Should I change my avatar

  • Ok, I've built up to this for a very long time, I'm nervous, scared, shaking,... I think I can do it. I think I can, here it goes..... ARGH! Almost.  I'll try again tomorrow.  I was ALMOST able to touch that avatar with my finger.  I'm just soooo fearful that when I pull my hand back, there will be a bloody stump where my finger used to be.  I need help!!!!

Frank, As I mentioned in the other thread, if you change it, nobody will recognize you!  We'll eventually get over our fear!

  • "BTW, you've inpired me to finally set up an avatar image...go creative commies!"

DOH! Another one slips over to the darkside...

Resist people! Don't be lured into the evil waste of bandwith faction. Be original! Think for yourselves...

  • You're absolutely right, john...my bad.

In fact, why the heck are there pictures on the internet at all?  It was all great when it was just text; much less bandwidth needed that way.  Really, all these pictures just get in the way!  Bring back the good old days of the text only internet!

  • That's the spirit! Every little bit counts.  Now, the next step is dots and dashes.  Morse was a genius!

  • Anyone remembering the good old BBS times? With a 9,600 baud modem?

  • Too yound : thank God.

  • You're a young wippersnapper... I go back to 300 baud with the hand set cradles.  Back in the days when televisions were still propane powered...

  • Poor old man. Must be hard to be that old, eh? I feel for you.

  • Don't be too hard on him... you'll get there long before us .

  • Ooh, John, I was gonna say 1200 baud.

    Steve

  • Yep, first computer I worked on was 110 baud acoustic coupled, IIRC.  It was later upgraded to 300 baud.  The first computer that I owned was a TRS-80 Model 100 with a 300 baud built-in, just plug in the phone line.  I still have the computer and it still works (theoretically, haven't turned it on in a while), not that I know what to do with it.
