As a DBA, I would prefer to be over-informed ( i.e attend all the meetings ) rather than under-informed, at least then I can take informed decisions as opposed to uninformed decisions ( guesswork )!.
The DBA as a DB Developer is integral to the good design of an app, so DB Developers should always be part of a project. Admin DBA dont need to be in the meeting but do need to know whats down the pipe so they can scale for new projects.
