Someone in my group is attempting to setup Sharepoint Single Signon 2007 against a machine running SQL 2005. When they put in the computer NetBios name, they get the following error:
"The Sql Server specified is either invalid or is an unsupported version."
My Google fu is usually pretty good, but I find no useful information. Yes, we are sure the NetBios name is correct and the SQL Server itself is accessible. We have tried both fully qualified and unqualified versions of the computer names. Suggestions?
Thanks,

To fix the NetBIOS name use issue, make sure that the SQL Server's NIC has the WINS server setting, then issue the "nbstat -RR" command to release and register the NetBIOS name of the server in WINS.
